Cramér-Rao Bound for Circular and Noncircular Complex Independent Component Analysis

چکیده
Despite an increased interest in complex independent component analysis (ICA) during the last two decades, a closed form expression for the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) for the demixing matrix is not known yet. In this paper, we fill this gap by deriving a closed-form expression for the CRB of the demixing matrix for instantaneous noncircular complex ICA. It contains the CRB for circular complex ICA and noncircular complex Gaussian ICA as two special cases. We also study the CRB numerically for the family of noncircular complex generalized Gaussian distributions and compare it to simulation results of two ICA estimators. Furthermore, we show how to extend the CRB to the case where the source signals are not temporally independent and identically distributed.

Stochastic Crame'r-Rao bound for noncircular signals with application to DOA estimation
After providing an extension of the Slepian–Bangs formula for general noncircular complex Gaussian distributions, this paper focuses on the stochastic Cramér–Rao bound (CRB) on direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation accuracy for noncircular sources. We derive an explicit expression of the CRB for DOA parameters alone in the case of noncircular complex Gaussian sources by two different methods. O...
متن کاملCramér-Rao Bound for Circular Complex Independent Component Analysis
Despite an increased interest in complex independent component analysis (ICA) during the last two decades, a closed-form expression for the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) of the complex ICA problem has not yet been established. In this paper, we fill this gap for the noiseless case and circular sources. The CRB depends on the distributions of the sources only through two characteristic values which can...
متن کاملMisspecified Cramér-rao bounds for complex unconstrained and constrained parameters
In this paper, a generalization of the Misspecified Cramér-Rao Bound (MCRB) and of the Constrained MCRB (CMCRB) to complex parameter vectors is presented. Our derivation aims at providing lower bounds on the Mean Square Error (MSE) for both circular and non-circular, MS-unbiased, mismatched estimators. A simple toy example is also presented to clarify the theoretical findings.
متن کاملCompact Cramér–Rao Bound Expression for Independent Component Analysis
Despite of the increased interest in independent component analysis (ICA) during the past two decades, a simple closed form expression of the Cramér–Rao bound (CRB) for the demixing matrix estimation has not been established in the open literature. In the present paper we fill this gap by deriving a simple closedform expression for the CRB of the demixing matrix directly from its definition. A ...
متن کاملComplex-valued signal processing - essential models, tools and statistics
Complex-valued signals arise in many diverse fields such as communications, radar, biomedical sciences, physical sciences, and related fields. This paper briefly reviews some important tools, statistics, models and estimators that are useful for handling complex-valued random signals. Over the past four decades, circularity (i.e. invariance of the distribution under multiplication by a unit com...
